Nancy (thornbury) Cairo

Atkinson, NH: Nancy (Thornbury) Cairo, 95, died Thursday, February 12, 2015 at Aurora Senior Living of Derry.

Born in Man, West Virginia, daughter of the late Joseph W. and Bertha (Hegner) Thornbury, she graduated from the local high school and worked as a newspaper reporter, most notably the Stamford Connecticut Advocate.

A resident of Hampstead, NH from 1977 until moving to Atkinson in 2005, Mrs. Cairo was a former resident of Port Chester, NY and Greenwich, Ct.
An avid reader, she also enjoyed Scrabble and playing cards.

Predeceased by her husband James E. Cairo in 2004, she is survived by a daughter Judith K. Cairo of Atkinson , with whom she has made her home for the past ten years, a son James Von Hegner, of Derry, a grandson and two great grandsons.

Relatives and friends may call on Wednesday evening, February 18, 2015 from 7 t0 8:15 at Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home, 116 Main St., Plaistow, NH. A service of remembrance will follow at 8:30. Burial wil be in the spring at Lakeview Cemetery in Hampstead. Memorial donations may be to the Atkinson Elder Affairs Program.
