Nanci S. Abelquist

Nanci Sayles Abelquist, age 68, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, 16 May 2017 at Los Alamitos Medical Center, Los Alamitos, CA. A resident of Long Beach, CA Nanci was born on 30 July 1948 in Hollywood, CA to Antonia Cengia and James N. Sayles, and raised in St. Joseph, MO. She was a 1966 graduate of Bishop LeBlond High School. She married Paul W. Abelquist on September 2, 2005. For the past 38 years, she was a Mary Kay Beauty Consultant. She reached out to all women, extolling the virtue of skin care and promoting Mary Kay products. Nanci lived life to the fullest through simple pleasures, and maintaining relationships with distant family members. She is survived by her husband Paul, mother Antonia, father Norman, sisters Patricia, Anna Marie, and Janine, also brothers Nicholas, Vincent and Thomas, and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by sister Theresa (1999) and brother Dennis (2002). Family, friends and others whose lives Nanci touched are invited to a memorial service and repast at Gethsemane Baptist Church 6095 Orange Avenue, Long Beach, CA 90805 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Saturday, 27 May 2017, to reminisce, grieve, support each other and, of course, just chat.

Nanci had a strong belief in God who saw her through three cancers, and it is now time to go home. God had heaven waiting for her.
