Nam Sook Kim, born on May 13, 1953 in Daegu, South Korea, passed away on July 30, 2016 in Burbank, CA. She was 63 years old. Nam is survived by her son, Kyu (married to Amy) and daughter, Benita.
The most apt description of Nam is that she was truly an Awesome Mom. Throughout her life she was devoted to raising her children to be strong and independent like herself. Her first thoughts of the day were about her children and rarely a day went by without a text or phone call to see how they were doing. She absolutely loved to cook for her family. Her radiant smile and laughter filled the room during holiday gatherings with family and friends. There was never a dull moment with Nam. Being with her brought joy and happiness to all those who knew her.
Nam's other constant in life was her unwavering faith in God. She was a member of Young Nak Celebration Church and was actively involved in volunteering and attending Bible study small groups.
Nam truly loved the outdoors and appreciated what nature had to offer. She enjoyed visiting beaches, taking strolls around her neighborhood and visiting botanical gardens during blooming seasons. Nam loved flowers and would marvel at how beautiful and unique each flower was.
Nam had a passion for watching and discussing movies with friends and family. She would tell stories of going to the movie theaters with her father in Korea as a child. She felt the movie going experience was the perfect medium to bond with family. Nam took her children to the movies whenever she could and instilled the same love of movies in them. As time passed, the roles were reversed and her children made sure to take their mother to see movies as often as possible. Seeing her joyous smile and laughter was priceless.
There was never a dull moment with Nam. Being with her brought joy and happiness to all those who knew her. Nam will be forever loved and missed by her family and friends.
The funeral service and celebration of her life will be held on August 13th at 2:30pm at the Forest Lawn Hollywood Hills, 6300 Forest Lawn Drive, Los Angeles, California.
