Myrna Espinoza

January 3, 1957 — May 15, 2025

Myrna Espinoza, beloved daughter, mother, grandmother, aunt, sister, cousin, mother in law, sister in law, and dear friend was born on January 3, 1957, in Matagalpa, Nicaragua, to her parents Francisco and Maria. She has 3 sisters Amanda, Digna and Gipsy and 2 brothers, Freddy and Francisco. She also had nieces and nephews and grandnephews and grandnieces whom she loved like her own. Myrna departed to the other side of the veil on May 15, 2025 in Sun Valley, California. Myrna lived a brave life that spanned almost 7 decades. She lived through the Somoza dictatorship, and the Nicaraguan revolution in 1979. She graduated from the UNAN with a degree in business administration. She worked as an administrator in the Ministry of the Interior in the early 1980s and left that to start two successful family businesses in 1983. She immigrated to the United States in 1985 due to the Nicaraguan socialist government persecution of privately owned businesses and their owners. She arrived in Harlingen, Texas with her mother, children and brother Freddy’s family in October 1985. She was a fearless single mother of three children Yoddy, Karol and Oliver. Soon after arriving in Texas, Myrna got baptized a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and was a devoted Christian. In early 1986 Myrna moved with her children and her sister Digna, and mom, Maria to Shreveport Louisiana, then to the San Fernando Valley, California in May 1986. She lived in Southern California until she moved to Utah for the last 9 years. Myrna made a lot of great friends in California at work and at church and loved going to church and the Temple. She worked many different jobs throughout her life to provide for her family and her home was always a warm, welcoming place for family and friends. Despite always working very hard, Myrna always put loved ones first and loved with patience, kindness and forgiveness. One of her great joys was to be present at the birth of her grandson and to also welcome a beautiful grandaughter in her life. She had recently bought a home back in Harlingen, Texas with her sister Digna and moved there with Digna and her mom, Maria. While back in Harlingen Myrna met a lot of great friends and one of the hardest things for her was that she did not get to live there long before she had to travel back to Salt Lake where unexpectedly she got sick. She will be deeply missed, because to know her was to love her, and she truly made the world a better place. Myrna’s visitation will be on Friday June 27th from 5 pm to 9 pm at Forest Lawn, Hollywood Hills 6300 Forest Lawn Dr, Los Angeles, CA 90068. On June 28th A shorter visitation from 8 am to 10:45 am and funeral service from 11 am to 12 noon will take place at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints at 11830 Saticoy St North Hollywood CA 91605. Interment will take place back at Forest Lawn Hollywood Hills Vale of Hope section.
