Dr. Miriam Lumbreras

Dr. Miriam Lumbreras, 80, born on March 28, 1946, passed away peacefully at home on August 14, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family and friends. Arrangements are under the care of Forest Lawn, Glendale, CA.

Born in the Philippines, Miriam received her medical education there before coming to the United States and building a distinguished career in medicine. She served as an anesthesiologist at Brooklyn Methodist Hospital for more than 30 years. Miriam took great pride in being a physician and devoted much of her life to caring for others through her profession.

Yet those who knew Miriam best will remember her not only for what she accomplished, but for the kindness and love she showed to the people around her.

Gentle by nature, Miriam deeply valued her family and friends. She treasured conversations with those close to her, enjoyed traveling with friends, including religious pilgrimages, and always took a genuine interest in the lives and well-being of the people she loved. Her concern for others showed itself in countless small ways. She wanted to know that those she cared about were safe, had everything they needed, and were taking care of themselves.

Outside of medicine, Miriam loved playing the piano, an accomplishment of which she was very proud. She also enjoyed cooking for family and friends and traveling to experience different places.

Her Catholic faith was at the center of her life. Miriam was devoted to Jesus and the Blessed Mother, prayed every day, and faithfully attended Sunday Mass at St. Sylvester Church. Her faith remained a source of strength and comfort throughout her life.

During her illness with pancreatic cancer, Miriam faced difficult circumstances with courage and strength. Even through those challenges, she remained surrounded by the family and friends who meant so much to her.

Miriam was predeceased by her beloved parents, Lauro Lumbreras and Concepcion Lumbreras. She is survived by her sisters, Corazon Diaz and Teresita Ascano; her brothers-in-law, Pancho Diaz and Gilpher Ascano; her nephews, Brian Diaz and Pancho Diaz Jr.; and her niece, Eileen Ascano, as well as the many friends whose lives she touched throughout the years.

Miriam's family and friends were among the greatest joys of her life. She will be remembered as a loving sister, aunt, physician, and friend, a woman whose quiet kindness and genuine concern for others left a lasting impression on those fortunate enough to know her.

Her family takes comfort in the faith that sustained Miriam throughout her life and in the hope that she has now entered into eternal rest in the presence of God, reunited with those who went before her and embraced by the love of Jesus and the Blessed Mother.

May perpetual light shine upon her, and may she rest in peace.
