Mildred A. Stanford, the daughter of Charles O. Johnson and Agnes (Rydell) Johnson, was born March 29, 1919 in Kackley, Kansas and died on November 14, 2017 in San Dimas, California at the age of 98 years, seven months. She grew up in rural Courtland, Kansas attending the rural country schools. She graduated from Scandia High School, class of 1937, and was active on the debate team, drama, cheerleading, acrobatics and taught Sunday school. She played violin in the orchestra. On June 29, 1940, she was united in marriage to Don Lee Bowersox of rural Belleville Kansas and from this union was born Janet, Allen, and Craig. They resided in Bakersfield, California where she was a homemaker, mother and wife until Don passed away in 1957. She then worked for Avon Products until her retirement in 1982 as a senior executive with Avon in Pasadena, California. She married Carl E. Stanford on June 20, 1965 in San Gabriel, California and the family immediately grew to 5 children, including Sharon and Larry. She was an active member of Faith Lutheran Church of San Dimas. Following her Avon retirement and the death of her parents in 1985, she embarked on a second career at JoAnn Fabrics, where she taught sewing & quilting, and then retired in 2009.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Charlie and Agnes Johnson; five brothers, Lewis, Maurice, Glenn, Chet, and Jarl Johnson; two sisters Elsa LeSage and Jean Marshall, and her daughter Janet Strunk. She is survived by her son Allen & Angelika Bowersox, Austin, TX, daughter Sharon & Chris Maas, Costa Mesa, CA, son Craig & Ji Bowersox from Thailand, and son Larry & Becky Stanford of Dallas, TX; 9 grandchildren Kelly, Bret, Ryan, Brian, Julie, Barbara, Justin, Laura & Carly; 13 great-grandchildren Maya, Johanna, Shawn, Luna, Duke, Dean, Davin, Brenna, Drew, Cole, Ethan, Henry, & Margarete.....and a host of nieces, nephews, and their families, and hundreds of friends over these beautiful years.

Arrangements are under the direction of Forest Lawn, Covina, California. Services will be held Saturday, November 25th in San Dimas at Faith Lutheran Church at 11:00 am. Viewing will also be at the church, prior to the service, from 9:00 am to 11:00 am. Interment will be at Forest Lawn, Covina, California.

Viewing at Faith Lutheran Church 9:00 a.m. ~ 11:00 a.m.
Funeral Service at Faith Lutheran Church 11:00 a.m. ~ 12:00 a.m.
Interment will be at Forest Lawn Mortuary, Covina, California 12:30 p.m. ~ 1:30 p.m.
Reception following at Tiburon Clubhouse, 155 Tanglewood Drive, San Dimas, Calfornia 1:30 p.m. ~ 5:00 p.m.
