Michelle Mary "Twinkle" Newkirk, 70, born on August 3, 1944 in Baltimore, Maryland, passed away November 3, 2014. She resided in Marina del Rey, California, at the time of her passing. Arrangements are under the direction of Forest Lawn Hollywood Hills, Los Angeles, California.
On Saturday, Nov 1st Twinkle Newkirk was doing what she loved the most, cheering her Granddaughter, Riley Newkirk on at her last game of her elite club soccer fall season. She would do her trademark cheer "Take the Ball"! A few minute after Riley was subbed out of the game in the final minutes of the game Twinkle suffered an inoperable stroke. By Tuesday, Nov 4th she was pronounced brain dead. We were all so shocked by this sudden passing and just as equally surprised when the doctors let us know, that although her brain gave out, all other organs where like a 20 year old, which is a huge testament to how she lived her life.
Twinkle had never smoked a cigarette, nor drank any alcohol, or ever was tempted by drugs. She lived a very clean saintly life and believed deeply in Miracles. So on that fateful day, the doctors asked us as a family to consider donating all major organsâ¦and it was like the shroud of darkness was suddenly lifted and Yes of course, that's what she would do if she were here. She gave selflessly, while always considering those in need. A jacket off her back during winter, to her last dollar to those who were merely hungry. She never asked why, just did.
Her final act of kindness was fulfilled on Nov 6th. With the help of "One Legacy", she was able to place all organs to people who were praying for a miracle. To date, her lungs are living strong in Canada, Her heart is beating fast in the UK, her liver, kidneys and pancreas live on here in the united states. In our eyes, she was the embodiment of Miracles, the gift giver of souls, all while being a wife, a mother, a grand mother, a sister & daughter to us all so effortlessly.
We as a family will continue to keep her legacy alive and thank each and everyone of you for supporting her last wish, which was to be buried with her son, at hollywood forest lawn. Please give as though you were Twinkle, for now it is her time to receive all the gifts that she would given so graciously.
