On Friday, October 13, 2023, Michelle Devera Montano, a beloved daughter and sister, joined our Heavenly Father at thirty-eight years old. Born to Danilo and Perla in San Diego, CA, she grew into a mischievous child, earning the nickname "Disaster" amongst family members, and made her baby brother, Darren, look like a cherub in comparison. She and her family moved to Japan at a young age, where she developed a love for Japanese traditions and cuisine, but not so much for learning the language. The Montano family grew when Lucky was adopted, and Michelle happily accepted the role of older sister for two younger brothers.
She continued to call Japan home for ten years, until she proudly graduated from Zama American High School in 2003. Then, she moved back to California where she completed Kaplan College's Vocational Nursing Program in 2008. Afterwards, she became a Certified Nurse's Assistant with a passion for memory care. Her career path led her to Silverado Memory Care Community in Escondido, CA where she poured her heart into providing exceptional care for patients battling memory-related illnesses. Later on, Michelle brought her expertise and nurturing nature to Aspire Transitional Care in Flagstaff, AZ, where she helped create an atmosphere of warmth and understanding for those under her care.
At an early age, Danilo and Perla realized Michelle's voice was heaven-sent. She truly enjoyed singing for everyone, whether it was at family gatherings, in the church choir, or with her circle of friends. She also had a joyous and infectious laugh, and it would be difficult to not laugh with her even without knowing the joke. Her angelic voice was a blessing that will surely be missed by all who had the opportunity to hear her.
Michelle embraced life with an adventurous spirit that encompassed everything from outdoor exploration to relishing the thrill of riding roller coasters. Michelle’s bravery extended into her love for horror movies, which she would watch late at night with family and friends.
Michelle's departure from this world leaves an irreplaceable void. However, her enduring legacy of love, laughter, and unwavering dedication to others will continue to inspire all who were fortunate to have known her. Her comforting presence and compassionate care will forever be remembered as she touched the lives of countless individuals and families. She remains an eternal beacon of light, reminding all to cherish every precious moment, extend kindness and love to those in need, and live life courageously. May her soul find peace, knowing that she made a profound difference in this world.
