Michel Ann Mccarthy

Michel Ann McCarthy, nee Schaller, died suddenly on Thursday, April 26, 2018 at her home in Seal Beach, California. She was 70 years old.

Michel was born January 29, 1948 in St. Paul, Minnesota, the third child of Louis and Mabel Schaller. She was a long-time resident of Southern California, graduating from North Hollywood High in 1966. She was active in the Royal Cavaliers Youth Band and the school band as a drummer. After graduation Michel pursued her cosmetology license and became a professional hair-dresser. She later started a long career as a front office administrator at several dental and oral surgery practices. Most recently, she worked for Dr. Larry J. Diamond, D.D.S. before retiring in 2010.

Michel moved from Westminster to Seal Beach Leisure World in 2008. She was well-known within the community as the drummer for the country-rock band Abilene, whom she loved performing with. Whether working or drumming, she distinguished herself with her big smile and genuine love for others.

Michel is survived by her son, Michael McCarthy, his wife Zoe, and two grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her two brothers, Philip Schaller and Kevin Schaller.

Funeral is scheduled for 9am Saturday, June 2nd at Forest Lawn Cypress. Burial will follow immediately after. Pastor Ben Wevers will officiate at the funeral. Celebration of Life will take place the same day at noon, Clubhouse 1, Seal Beach Leisure World, 13533 Seal Beach Blvd.
