West Covina

Michael Louis Ridley, affectionately known as Dosie was born August 24, 1950 to Aline and James J. Ridley Il in Tuckerman, Arkansas. He was the second oldest of five children from this union.

The family moved to Venice, CA when he was very young and that's where his love for sports began. He accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at First Baptist Church in Venice.

He attended Broadway Elementary, Mark Twain Junior School, and later Venice High, where he excelled in football, baseball, and track & field. Several articles were written in local newspapers highlighting his accomplishments.

Michael went on to play football at Santa Monica College, where he and his close friend Lloyd Yates both earned scholarships to play for Tulsa University in Oklahoma. He later earned a spot on the preseason roster of the Los Angeles Rams.

If you knew Dosie, you knew just how competitive he was. He hated to lose at anything: sports, cards, dominos etc. And he would talk smack to you the whole time he was beating you!

After his playing days were over, he went on to work at Everest & Jennings, where he met the love of his life Sharon. They were later married and had a family consisting of four girls and two boys.

They went on to acquire a house in West Covina where they loved to host various BBQ's, birthday parties, and the ultimate Super Bowl bashes.

Michael later worked at Eastlake Juvenile Detention Center, mentoring many young men for years until retirement. He remained active, playing softball with the Dirty Sox, bike riding, and daily tending to his yard.

On August 3rd, 2025, Michael left all the pain to go live an eternal life with the Lord. He was preceded in death by his loving wife Sharon Ridley, mother Aline Ridley, father James J. Ridley II, siblings Linda Williams, Larry Pruitt (aka Snake), James J. Ridley III and Errect Ridley. He leaves to cherish his loving memory, his six children: Shannan E. Ridley, Tischa Ridley, Michael Lamont Ridley, Asonia Ridley, Latresse Ridley and Jelani Kimble.

He  has 12 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren, one sister, Mesheal Rogers,

(husband Warren B Rogers Sr.) He also leaves aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will truly miss him.
