Michael Polak, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, son and brother, passed away on October 6, 2024, at the age of 78. He was born on October 11, 1945, and led a life rich with passion, creativity, and cherished relationships.
Mike’s heart was devoted to his family. He is survived by a son and daughter, as well as nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. They brought immense joy and purpose to his life. He also leaves behind his younger brother, whose companionship he valued greatly. Mike's dedication to family was evident in the countless hours he spent talking with his loved ones, sharing his life experiences, and helping them navigate the intricacies of life.
A man of many talents, Mike was affectionately known as Tonopah Mike among his bottle-collecting friends. He was an accomplished author, having written eight editions of his Antique Bottle Collecting Guides along with several other books focusing on bottles and Americana collectibles. His passion for Goldfield and Tonopah bottles and antiques led to the sale of over 100,000 copies of his works, earning him respect and admiration from collectors and enthusiasts alike.
Mike had a love for fishing that was matched only by his passion for storytelling. He delighted in recounting tales of his fishing adventures, painting vivid images of his escapades trying to catch the big one. His infectious enthusiasm for life extended to his enjoyment of old western movies, which he often watched in his spare time.
Mike's departure leaves a void in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing him. He is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Jaqueline, whose love and partnership meant everything to him.
A funeral service to honor Mike's life will be held on October 22, 2024, at 10:30 AM, at Forest Lawn - Cypress, located at 4471 Lincoln Avenue, Cypress, California. This gathering will serve as a time for friends and family to celebrate the remarkable legacy he leaves behind. Mike will be dearly missed, and his memory will be cherished by all those whose lives he touched.
