Michael Lee Magruder

Michael Lee Magruder, 64, passed away on January 8, 2013 in Redlands, Calif. following a lengthy illness. He was born in Upland, Calif. on January 10, 1948 to Malcolm and Dorris (Bartula) Magruder. He attended school in Upland before graduating from University of the Pacific in Stockton, Calif. He became a Pharmacist, eventually opening his own store across from the hospital where he was born. He went out of his way to help anyone who came in or was in a nursing home which earned him the nickname, "DOC", to his many friends and customers. He is survived by ex-wives, Jean (Galitz) Nelson and Nancy deVilling; his daughter, Sharon (Marshall) Ott; six grandchildren; mother, Dorris Magruder; and nephews, Mason and Marshall Magruder. Preceding him in death were his father, Malcolm; his son, David; and his brother, Dale. He enjoyed all sports, reading, and trivia. He collected comic books, trains, and Hawaiian shirts. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Forest Lawn Mortuary in Cathedral City, Calif., which will take place at the Ramon Chapel on Wednesday, January 16, 2013, at 1:00 p.m.
