It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Michael Steven Lujan, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend. Michael was born on May 27, 1954, in Los Angeles, California, and he departed this world peacefully at home, surrounded by his cherished loved ones, on February 11, 2026.
Mike dedicated an admirable 36 years of his life to UPS, where he excelled as both an exceptional employee and a skilled shop steward. During his tenure, he not only contributed to the company but also forged lifelong friendships that enriched his life and the lives of those around him.
Michael's vivacious spirit and remarkable personality set him apart. He was outgoing, charismatic, and always the consummate team player. His sense of humor was infectious, peppered with wit and a hint of sarcasm that brought joy to any gathering. Known for his calm demeanor in tough situations, Michael exemplified what it meant to be a true friend to many. He was, without a doubt, a great guy with a heart full of love.
Above all, Michael was a devoted husband to his wife Denise, with whom he shared 44 wonderful years. He was a loving and supportive father to his children: Michael, Christina, and Kathlene. The legacy of love continued as he embraced the role of a proud Papa to his six grandchildren: Abbey, Patrick, Penny, Jude, Benjamin, and Sofia. Michael cherished the special bond he formed with each grandchild, instilling in them the same excitement and joy he felt for life, especially during the Christmas season, which was his favorite time of the year.
Christmas music brought him such delight, and his favorite festive movie, the classic "White Christmas," became a cherished tradition he shared with his children and grandchildren annually. These moments encapsulated his spirit—full of love, laughter, and warmth.
A graduate known for his involvement in high school sports, Michael played Varsity Football and baseball, and even held the esteemed title of senior senator during his senior year. This sense of achievement and camaraderie carried into his adult life, as showcased by his pride in his championship-winning Fantasy Football team, “the six pack,” in which he participated with lifelong friends in the So Cal Fantasy Football League.
Outside of his career and family life, Michael was a man of varied interests. He found joy in golf, bowling, concerts, and traveling with Denise to their cherished home in Bullhead City, Arizona. His time at the racetrack and love for good buffets only seemed to enhance his zest for life. A history enthusiast, Michael enjoyed learning about the world and sharing fascinating tidbits about music and cinematic history with anyone willing to listen.
Michael Steven Lujan leaves behind a legacy that reflects unconditional love, friendship, and joy. His presence enriched the lives of those who knew him, and as we gather to celebrate his life, we will hold tight the memories he created with his loving family and friends.
His funeral services will be held at Forest Lawn - Covina Hills - Church of our Heritage in Covina on March 9, 2026, followed by a second service at St. Denis Catholic Church in Diamond Bar on March 10, 2026.
Mike is survived by his beloved wife Denise, his children Michael, Christina, and Kathlene, his son-in-law Homero, and his cherished grandchildren Abbey, Patrick, Penny, Jude, Benjamin, and Sofia. His loving spirit and remarkable life will forever remain in our hearts.
