Michael Jordan, known to family and friends as Mike, was born on December 16, 1954, in Burbank, California, to Harold and Marna Jordan. He lived a full and generous life until his passing at the age of 70.
Mike spent his entire life as part of the Burbank community, a place he loved deeply. He attended Roosevelt Elementary, Luther Burbank Junior High, and graduated from John Burroughs High School. While still in high school, he bought his first home, proudly achieving a milestone so young.
In his early twenties, Mike served as a police reserve for the Burbank Police Department, giving back to the community that meant so much to him.
Mike married the love of his life, Kathryn, when they were both 23 years old after less than a year of dating. They shared 46 wonderful years of marriage, filled with love, laughter, and adventure. Together, they traveled widely, with their final big trip being a memorable cruise to Greenland.
He was a devoted and involved father to his two children, Kristin and Erik. Mike never missed an opportunity to support his children — coaching and cheering on Kristin at her soccer matches, and attending Erik’s choir performances and piano recitals. One of the family's cherished traditions was holding season tickets to the Pantages Theatre, where they enjoyed plays and musicals together.
Mike dedicated his career to the family business, Jay Manufacturing, starting work at age 17. In 1997, he purchased the company from his father and successfully led it for nearly three decades. After selling the business in 2023, he embraced a well-earned and joyful retirement.
Outside of work, Mike had many passions. He loved target shooting and hunting pheasant, dove, and quail. A true country music fan long before it became mainstream, he had a deep appreciation for the genre. His favorite films included Mr. Holland’s Opus and the entire Tremors series — a reflection of his warm and playful spirit.
Above all, Mike was known for his kindness, generosity, and unwavering loyalty. He touched the lives of everyone he met and left a lasting impact on all who knew him. His absence leaves a profound void, and he will be missed beyond measure.
Mike is survived by his beloved wife Kathryn, his children Kristin and Erik, his son-in-law Jason, his parents Harold and Marna, his brothers Stephen and Mark, and many cherished nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
A private service will be held on Tuesday, April 29, 2025, at Forest Lawn, Hollywood Hills. Following the service, a Celebration of Mike’s Life will take place at a local restaurant.
