Michael Henry Osborne

December 3, 1944 — October 24, 2023

Carson

Michael Osborne, a beloved assembler, passed away peacefully during the night on October 24, 2023, in Carson, California. He was born on December 3, 1944, in Los Angeles, California. Michael was a cheerful and happy individual who always had a big smile on his face. He exuded positivity and seemed to not have a care in the world. His life was filled with music, laughter, and an insatiable desire to play. He was born perfectly healthy but due to a nasty bout with meningitis, the fever caused him to have some brain damage. He was always so sweet and loving. Back then in the 1940’s the doctor just said to give him some aspirin, a cool bath and I will see you in the morning. By then it was too late. Michael was now stuck with the mentality of a 4 year old forever.
Growing up, Michael had a mischievous side that brought both joy and occasional tears. One of the favorite childhood memories shared by his loved ones was when Michael tried to sit in a baby doll high chair his Niece received as a gift. As expected, he broke it. This made her cry. After all, he was just a 4 year old trapped inside of a man's body.  Michael's childlike curiosity and innocence marked him as someone who cherished every moment and saw the world through joyful eyes.

Apart from making others laugh with his antics, Michael was known for his enthusiastic participation during Thanksgiving dinners. He eagerly took on the responsibility of saying the blessing before meals. To help him slow down his rapid recitation, his sister would whisper each word to him and with great pride and enthusiasm, he would recite the blessing without missing a beat. He couldn't  wait to say Amen. It was a heartwarming sight that everyone looked forward to year after year.

Music played an essential role in Michael's life; he always had a melody in his heart. Whether it was singing along to familiar tunes or spontaneously bursting into song out of nowhere, Michael's melodic presence brightened any room he entered. His ability to remember lyrics from almost any song he heard was truly remarkable—an incredible talent that delighted those around him. Additionally, his infectiously cheerful nature became apparent through constant whistling and clapping of hands.

When it came to leisure activities, Michael loved engaging with various games and hobbies that brought him joy and entertainment. His interests included playing baseball and football, both of which brought out his enthusiastic sportsmanship. He also found pleasure in playing with dominoes, decks of cards, and engaging in the art of coloring books. Large-piece puzzles provided him with a sense of accomplishment as he meticulously put them together.

One of Michael's proudest accomplishments was in the Special Olympics. The moment he received a medal for his efforts became a cherished memory for him and his loved ones. Michael felt honored to display his medal and revel in the recognition that he rightfully earned.

A big thank you to Mrs. Floa Crow who has taken care of Michael for the last 40 plus years. She welcomed him into one of her residential homes with a group of young men like Michael. She watched over Michael, took him to Doctor appointments and helped him grow into a man. Thank you so much Mrs Crow for your hard work and dedication and love for Michael.
