Michael Anthony Costley

October 2, 1949 — April 29, 2021

Michael Anthony Costley, born in Buffalo NY, 1949, to his proud parents, Josephine and John Costley, who proceeded him in death. Michael fell asleep in the arms of our Lord and peacefully passed away, April 29, 2021. Michael knew from a very early age that he was destined for stardom, as he entertained his sister and others on the bus at the tender age of 5. The great thing about seeing Mike perform is that he was so adaptable. Whether at The Albright Knox Art Gallery, the Annenberg Theatre or in a friends backyard, he could mold himself into any musical environment and hold you in the palm of his hand.
Michael made his home in the Palm Springs area for the last 40 plus years though his heart was always with his friends and family in Buffalo. Michael's passion was music and his accomplishments were many. He has a star at the steps of the Annenberg Theatre in Palm Springs and he was honored with a proclamation from Erie County New York for his musical contributions. Michael, a longtime resident of the city of La Quinta, CA, received a distinguished artist award from the city council, along with his name engraved on a statue in the city's public park. Michael made sure to always go home to Buffalo for the cousins' picnic every August, which coincided with the city's annual Italian festival, which he lovingly performed in for many years. Michael was a man of faith, the battle he fought with Pulmonary Fibrosis was grueling, his passing was peaceful and he was surrounded by his loved ones. Michael is survived by his devoted sister, Lori and his two loving ex-wives, Donna and Stephanie. Michael had nieces and nephews in San Diego, Mexico and Washington, an amazing community of musicians, and his loving family & friends in Buffalo and California.
We will never forget him, his heart was a big as his voice.
