Michael Bard

Michael was born into a working-class family in Brooklyn, N.Y. on February 18, 1940.He was 84 years old when he succumbed to Pancreatic Cancer March 4, 2024.  From early jobs as a paperboy; shining shoes and clerking in a local pharmacy; he managed to earn degrees in mechanical and electrical engineering which culminated with earning a juris doctorate in law. As his experience matured, he joined the AT&T law department where he spent many years as an Intellectual Property licensing attorney negotiating and implementing joint ventures and technology transfer arrangements throughout the world.

He was a recognized expert in the Law of Transnational Business Transactions and authored part of the Clark Boardman series addressing that subject. He was also a consumer advocate and published legal articles as well as a book on real estate. 

Michael leaves behind his wife Lee of 62+ years, sons Clive Jacques and husband Dan Jacques (of Carlisle, MA) and Jeremy Bard (of Las Vegas, NV). along with five grandchildren. Michael’s sister, Glenda Joan Stein (of Monsey, N.) predeceased him.

After they fell in love with the Coachella Valley about 20 years ago, they initially spent their winters here in their motorcoach, eventually building a second home and finally becoming permanent residents.  Michael and Lee traveled extensively, through Tibet, Asia, India, Australia and Europe. In addition to traveling, they enjoyed sailing, tennis, skiing, fine wines and fine dining. It was a life well-lived

Michael became active in the International Cancer Advocacy Network and found them of enormous help to him and Lee.
