San Dimas

Michael Anchondo, 68, who proudly resided in San Dimas, California, passed away July 18, 2024. Mike was the son of Joe & Lorraine Anchondo. He and his twin brother, Joe, were born 7 minutes apart, in Pasadena California. He married his high school sweetheart, Tina Contreras, in 1976, and they worked together to build a beautiful life, home and family.

Mike was a lifelong resident of California. He spent his childhood in Azusa, then in San Gabriel, where he was educated at Madison Elementary, Jefferson Intermediate, and San Gabriel High School.

After high school, Mike was trained at Los Angeles Trade Technical-College, where he learned his trade. He soon became an electrician, a field he would dedicate his life to. He served California Institute of Technology in Pasadena 44 years, retiring in 2022 as the Campus Electric Shop Supervisor.

Mike is survived by two loving adult children, Mike (and his wife Anna) and Chloe (and her husband Steven Pratt). They all enjoyed traveling together, fishing, and camping.

Mike had four siblings who loved him dearly. He is survived by his twin, Joe Anchondo of Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, Arnold Woodin of Squaw Valley, California, and Renée Anchondo of San Dimas, California. Sadly, the youngest brother, Russell, passed away in 2010 of pancreatic cancer.

Mike played a large role in his granchildren's lives -- Mikey, Cody and Charlotte. He enjoyed visiting with cousins, close friends and neighbors.

Tina's family, The Contreras', became Mike's family, and they made great memories together. Mike's high-school friend, Art Terrazas, married Tina's sister, Sylvia, establishing a lifelong friendship early in their married lives.

Mike took great pride in his home, keeping it in good repair, and attractive. His gardening skills and hard work will always make it a pleasant space for his wife and loved ones. Beautiful greenery and flowers continue to fill the front and back yards.

Mike will be missed by many, as he touched a lot of people throughout his selfless life. He was a thoughtful, talented and giving man -- someone his family and friends were proud to know.

Friends and family are invited to join together in remembrance of Mike. We are gathering at 7:00pm on Friday, August 2nd, 2024 in the Beckman Auditorium of the California Institute of Technology, located at 332 S Michigan Avenue in Pasadena, California.

Light refreshments will be provided.

Zoom Will be provided as well for those that cannot attend in-person.
