Merv passed away after a long battle with Parkinson’s disease. He was a husband to his wife of 43 years Karen, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin and friend to many. He is survived by his son David, his grandson Seth, his 2 sisters Gloria and Gail and his brother-in-law Ted. Born in Altoona, Pennsylvania, Merv proudly served in the US Army, graduated from the University of Arizona and moved to Los Angeles where he met and married Karen, had their son David and became a CPA, becoming a partner in his own firm in Century City for over 30 years. Merv & Karen were very active at Temple Isaiah in West Los Angeles where Merv served as President from 1998-1999. A lifelong lover of baseball, he religiously followed his Pittsburgh Pirates since the days of Roberto Clemente and was a long-suffering, yet always optimistic LA Clippers fan, holding season tickets in the 1990s. He and Karen retired and moved to Sun City Palm Desert in 2000 where they lived a very active retirement including volunteering at both the Indian Wells Tennis Gardens during the BP Paribas Open as well at the ER at Eisenhower Medical Center in Rancho Mirage until he lost Karen to cancer in 2012 and was subsequently diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease. Memorial services will be private. Please make donations to the Parkinson’s Foundation or any charity of your choice In lieu of flowers.
