Mertrude Rosemond (Mary/Peanut) Morace

November 10, 1938 — April 25, 2019

Our beloved Mertrude, 80, born on November 10, 1938, in West Stewartstown, New Hampshire, passed away peacefully April 25, 2019. She resided in California at the time of her passing. Born as Mertrude, but known to most as Mary, or Peanut, she leaves behind many friends, an enormous family, and quite a legacy of love. She lived a full life in her 80 years and missed her dear husband, Louis deeply since his passing in 2013. Their grand reunion must have been a joyous occasion! Reflecting back on all of the stories and all of the pictures shared, its no wonder she was the truly amazing person she was. She never held back from saying what was on her mind...ever! Yet, she was the most compassionate, loving, "give you the shirt of her back' person, you could ever know. All of this wrapped up in a package of 5'2" and 110 lbs! She picked tobacco, waited tables, worked on cars, raced cars! received a nursing degree, worked as school nurse, hospice nurse, and ultimately retired from the Glendale Unified School District after 22 years in Special Education, that was her passion. Those kids and those families were her passion. She could not have that much love and that much compassion without her faith and belief in the Lord Jesus Christ. After searching for a church and pastor (after losing their beloved Pastor Lau) that felt right, they found Valley Baptist, and Pastor Jon Barta. Again, it was as if life had been renewed for Mary and Louie. Church and fellowship was an enormous part of their lives. Their friend group grew by leaps and bounds!
Mertrude, Mary, our loved Peanut, was very clear in her final wishes that she did not want a funeral or service after her passing. It is at this time that we must respect her wishes. However, that does not mean that we cannot memorialize this beautiful woman in our own ways. Please take a moment to reflect how she touched your lives. If she did something kind for you, be kind to someone else today, pay it forward. If she made you a meal when you were sick or had lost a loved one, maybe you could do the same for someone else. Help us to make her memory, her legacy, carry on.

In Lieu of flowers, a Tribute Gift to the Alzheimer's Association in her name could someday make a profound difference in so many lives.
