Merna Kay Malouf

June 26, 1940 — May 16, 2022

Merna Kay Malouf was born on June 26, 1940 to Bert Bergess Malouf and Marion Nassour Malouf and peacefully entered into eternal rest with our Lord on May 16, 2022 after a long battle with Alzheimer's.

Merna is survived by her brother, Robert Malouf, her sons, Bradford Keegan and Douglas Keegan (Devon), along with grandchildren: Tyler, Brealyn, Brandon, Dylan, Kathleen & Flynn and great-grandson Ashton. She was preceded in death by her sister, Marlene Malouf Hall.
Merna attended Marlborough and USC where she was a member of Alpha Chi Omega sorority. She met her husband, Lewis Keegan, at USC in 1960 and together they built the Embassy apartments in Scottsdale, AZ before moving to New Zealand for three years. In 1967 she and her two boys returned to Holmby Hills to live with her mother.

Merna was a lifelong lover of horses, eventually moving to Burbank to be closer to the Equestrian Center, where she had Quarter Horses. She practiced and competed in Dressage on her beloved horse "King". While in Burbank she also was manager of the local Coldwell Banker office.
In 1990 she purchased Futurity Farm, acquiring over 300 Morgan horses in Lewiston, Idaho. Merna bred, trained, sold and showed Morgan horses for 25 years, winning many first place ribbons for Western Pleasure Riding, English Dressage & Western Dressage, including the Grand National Championship in Oklahoma.

In 1999, she moved Futurity Farm to her final home on 20 acres in Auburn, CA, and spent her remaining years riding, competing, and running her ranch.

In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory to the Alzheimer's Association at ALZ.ORG would be greatly appreciated.

Graveside services will be held on Friday, June 10, 2022 at noon in Forest Lawn Glendale, Garden of Honor.
