Atkinson, NH: Meredith E. "Bub" Reynolds, 88, a resident of Atkinson for all of his life, died August 14, 2016, after an extended illness, at Wingate at Haverhill.
Born and educated in Atkinson, son of the late Elgin E. and Beatrice E. (Pettengill) Reynolds, he graduated from Atkinson Academy in 1946 and went on to attend The Tilton School in Tilton, NH. A veteran of the Korean Conflict, Mr. Reynolds served as a Radarman Second Class in the United States Navy from 1949 until 1953 and was a recipient of the Good Conduct Medal.
Mr. Reynolds was employed for most of his working career as a telephone and computer repair man at Western Electric Co., AT & T Technologies, and Lucent Technologies until his retirement.
A lifelong resident of Atkinson and longtime member of the Atkinson Congregational Church, Mr. Reynolds served the town on various committees and positions. He served sixteen years on the Atkinson Fire Department, with three years as the Fire Chief and had also served as Deputy Fire Chief and Captain. He was a former member of the Municipal Budget Committee, Atkinson Planning Board, Conservation Commission and Building Needs Committee. He was past member and Chairman of the Board of Selectmen. The Town of Atkinson honored Mr. Reynolds by dedicating the Annual Report to him in 1987.
An avid sportsman and sports fan, he enjoyed farming and bee keeping, fly fishing, cooking, gardening and reading.
Predeceased by his wife of sixty-four years, Helen C. (Johnson) Reynolds, on April 25, 2016, he will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his daughter Diane Reynolds Ciolek and her companion Rusty Bolles of Ipswich, three sons, Wayne K. Reynolds of Plaistow, Keith D. Reynolds and his wife Paula, of Haverhill, MA, and Steven E. Reynolds and his partner Mark Gage of Greenland, a sister Marilyn E. Garland of Wilmington, DE, three grandchildren, Jillian Reynolds, Adam Ciolek and Nathan Ciolek, a niece Nancy Garland and several cousins.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Life Celebration to be held on Sunday, August 21, 2016 from 2 to 5 p.m. at Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home, 116 Main St., Route 121A, Plaistow. His funeral service will begin on Monday at 10:30 a.m. in the Atkinson Congregational Church, Main St. Atkinson , followed by burial with Fire Department and Military Honors in Atkinson Cemetery.
