Melvin Hugh Patterson

Melvin Hugh Patterson, 73, born on December 2, 1939, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania passed away at his home in Lakewood December 24, 2012. The son of Ralph and Mildred Patterson, he grew up in Pittsburgh, attended the local schools and graduated from high school.

He joined the Navy when he was 17 and served on the USS Randolph between 1958-1960. Afterwards, he moved to Kansas and worked on highway 70 in Abilene where he met and married his beloved wife of 48 years, Sondra Oard. Together they moved to California and bought a home in Lakewood. He worked in Aerospace for 30 years at McDonald Douglas and Northrop before retiring in 1993.

Survivors include his wife Sondra Patterson; his younger brother Terry Patterson; his daughter Debra Robbins; his son Mark Patterson; and 4 grand-children Dillon and Noah Robbins; Alyssa and Robert Seymore. He was preceded in death by both his parents and his older brother Ron Patterson.

Memorial services will be at 11 am Saturday, January 5, 2013, at Parkcrest Church 5950 Parkcrest Street, Long Beach 90808 with Pastor Drue Boles officiating.
