Melody Cruz

September 10, 1971 — March 16, 2025

Melody Ornillo Roble Cruz was born on September 10, 1971, at Martinez Memorial Hospital in the Philippines. She was the fourth of six children of Vicente and Socorro Robles, both of whom have passed away. Melody grew up in a close-knit family alongside her siblings: Ferdinand Robles (deceased), Evelyn Robles Peña, Christopher Robles, Ricardo Robles, and Ferdeliza Robles Cerbo.

A passionate and dedicated learner, Melody pursued her higher education at the Philippine Normal College, where she earned her degree of Bachelor of Science in Education, majoring in Physics. Her thirst for knowledge and commitment to the field of education led her to continue with a Master’s Degree in Education, majoring in Administration and Supervision.

Melody devoted much of her life to shaping young minds and mentoring future professionals. She began her career as a high school teacher and later served as a college professor, sharing her love for learning and her expertise in education with countless students. She also met her husband, Berlin Cruz, a fellow educator, while teaching and later got married on February 10, 2000.

In July 2004, Melody migrated to the United States in pursuit of greater opportunities and a new chapter in her life. She initially settled in Laredo, Texas, with her husband. The couple later moved to Los Angeles, California in June 2005. While in the U.S., Melody continued to serve her community, working as a remittance teller at Lucky Money and later at Atlas Corp.

Despite the changes in her career and environment, Melody’s dedication to service and her strong values remained constant. She leaves behind a legacy of love, generosity, and artistic talent that touched the hearts of many. Affectionately known among family and friends as a fantastic singer and dancer, she brought life to every gathering. No party was ever complete without her radiant performance of “Dancing Queen,” a song that came to symbolize the joy and warmth she shared so effortlessly. Her love for the arts was only matched by her deep compassion—she was a source of wisdom, strength, and comfort to many, always ready with a life lesson or a word of encouragement.

Outside of her professional and artistic life, Melody cherished time with her nieces and nephews, creating countless treasured memories. She adored the beauty of nature—especially the vibrant blooms of Spring—and found joy in the simple pleasure of flowers. A devoted animal lover, she also made it her quiet mission to rescue cats, a reflection of her deeply nurturing soul.

On February 28, 2025, Melody was confined at Kaiser Permanente in Panorama City due to a series of health complications. Her condition rapidly declined, and breathed her last on March 16, 2025 at 8:00 a.m. due to multiple strokes. Though her time with us was cut far too short, the love she gave and the joy she brought into our lives will never fade.

Melody Roble Cruz’s life was one marked by grace, intelligence, and service. Her memory will live on in the hearts of her loved ones, friends, and the many lives she touched through her work and kindness.
