Melecio Sanchez

Melecio Sanchez, 90, was born on June 14, 1927 in Hanford, California, and passed away on November 7, 2017. He resided in Coachella, California at the time of his passing. On December 16, 1972 in Mexico he married Juana Sanchez. Melecio worked in agriculture most of his years. He was a hard worker and retired until the age of 62. He was a man of strong beliefs, he was immensely respectful, and a great speaker. For over 20 years he fought along side of Cesar Chavez for fair wages and was a civil rights activist. Once retired, he enjoyed gardening and spending time with his wife, children, and grandchildren.

Melecio is survived by his wife, Juana Sanchez; four daughters, Sonia Arteaga, Sandra Yescas, Maria Sanchez, and Erica Sanchez; son Cesar Sanchez; seven grandchildren, Daniel Lopez, Ari Yescas, Nataly and Cesar Sanchez II, Maelie and Romel Rosales, Victor M. Barajas III; two great-grandchildren, Oscar and Ittai Salazar; four sisters and three brothers and several nieces and nephews.

This beloved husband, father, grandfather, great- grandfather, brother, uncle and friend will be greatly missed.

Arrangements are under the direction of Forest Lawn Mortuary, Coachella, California.
