Melba Almgren

April 1, 1938 — December 20, 2024

Melba Rose (Posik) Almgren, affectionately known as LoRae, passed away peacefully on December 20, 2024, in Fullerton, California. Born on April 1, 1938, in Stafford, Kansas, to Violet Helen (Taylor) Stone and Reverend Clarence Clifford Stone. Melba lived a life brimming with love, creativity, and an immense devotion to her family and community.

As the proud single mother of three children, Denise Vazquez, Tim Posik, and the late Mark Posik, Melba was a guiding light in their lives. She dedicated herself to nurturing her children, imparting love and wisdom generously. Her legacy continues through her loving sister Virginia Wilkins, her devoted daughter-in-law Lourdes Posik, as well as her cherished grandsons Kevin, Kory, Mike, and Chris, and granddaughters Rachel and Kaylen. Melba also found joy in the laughter of her four great-grandchildren, Lukas, Levi, Gracie, and Gavin, each of whom brought a special sparkle to her life.

Melba had an impressive career that showcased her diverse talents and passion. She owned and operated LoRae's Hairem, a beloved beauty salon where clients not only received stunning hairdos but also the warmth of her personality. An accomplished bowler, Melba participated in the 300 League, where she forged friendships and relished the camaraderie of the sport. Her artistic side flourished at Crafty Max, where she created crafts that reflected her vibrant spirit. For 25 years, Melba served as an Executive Administrator at Russell Coil, showcasing her organizational skills, dedication, and genial character which also resulted in many lifelong friendships.

Among her many passions, Melba was deeply involved with the Faith Community Nazarene Church in Yorba Linda, California, where she served in Women’s Ministries, was Missionary President, and sang in the church choir. In the earlier years, she shared her love for teaching children's church and singing at the La Habra Nazarene Church, inspiring many, creating a sense of community and belonging. Melba’s faith was the cornerstone of her life, guiding her actions and enabling her to touch the hearts of those around her where she created additional lifelong friendships including her cherished "Pearl Sister's".

Melba’s interests extended beyond her professional life; she had a zest for hobbies that included crocheting, painting, gardening, teaching Bible studies, and shopping for cute clothing. Her personality was a tapestry of qualities: loving, creative, organized, dependable, trustworthy, loyal, and ever-encouraging. Friends and family alike cherished her spontaneous spirit and the fun she brought into every gathering.

One of her proudest accomplishments was her work with the San Bernardino Sheriff's Department, helping the homeless in the high desert communities. Melba exemplified compassion and empathy, always ready to lend a helping hand to those in need. Yet, nothing filled her with more pride than her relationship with her children. She was their unwavering advocate, finding joy in their successes and supporting them through life’s challenges.
