Melanie Nunez Velis

Melanie Nunez Velis, 75, born on November 29, 1943 in Mexicali, Mexico to Jesus and Maria Elena Nunez of Michoacan, Mexico. She was the 8th of 10 children and passed away with her loved ones by her side on April 15, 2019.

Melanie moved to Los Angeles when she was a baby. While attending middle school at John Muir, she met the love of her life, Paul Velis Jr. They would later both attend Manuel Arts High School together. She resided in Moreno Valley, California for over 30 years.

Melanie was a retired Riverside County Schools employee. Prior to working for Riverside County she was an employee at St. Matthias school in Huntington Park, California. She was also very involved in her childrens' school activities and sports. She was always the team mom and scorekeeper beside her coach husband Paul. Melanie loved fiercely and would do anything for her family, of which she was very proud of. She enjoyed shopping and spending time with her family.

She is survived by her 4 children, Laura , Melanie, Paul Robert and Jennifer. Her 11 grandchildren, Andrew, Brittany, Ryan, Amanda, Garrette, Alyssa, Brandon, Andres Jr., Emilio, Manuel, and Nicole. Her 6 great grandchildren, Wendy, Noah, Avery, Aubrianna, Nolan and Adelina.

She is preceded in death by her parents Jesus Cardenas Nunez and Maria Elena Diaz Nunez and her husband of over 50 years, Paul Velis Jr.

Arrangements are under the direction of Forest Lawn, Covina Hills, California.
