Melani Pramono

May 3, 1925 — April 11, 2013

Melani Pramono, affectionately known by family and close friends as Karpin (Go Karpin Nio), was born on May 3, 1925 in Kudus, Indonesia. The fifth of twelve children, she was part of a very tight-knit family. She grew up through periods of tumult and war time, from the Dutch colonization days to the Japanese occupation and finally to the republic era. Nevertheless, she was able to attend school and continue her studies up to MULO, the equivalent to Junior High.
Growing up on the same street and attending the same school as her lifelong love Adi (Oei Liang Gwan), Melani also shared the exact same birthday with him. Living in Kudus, they raised a family with six children: five sons and one daughter. From oldest to youngest, their children's names are: Stephan, Max, Eddy, Lucia, Budi and Tony.
In 1987, Adi tragically suffered a heart attack and passed away in Washington DC while on vacation to visit their children who were studying abroad in Paris, Gottingen, Germany, Washington, DC, Cincinnati, and Boulder. While devastated by the sudden loss of her husband, Melani found solace in her children whom she loved very much by visiting each of them often. In 1988, she moved to the United States to live with Budi and Tony where she found her new residence in Palmdale, CA. Enjoying her new life with her many newly made friends, she was happy to spend lots of time going places together with them and also to find a home at the International Full Gospel Fellowship Church. In 2000, she moved to Diamond Bar to live closer to Budi and Marisa. In December of 2007, she suffered a massive stroke which left half her body paralyzed and her speech impaired. Due to her stable condition, the family decided that it would be best for her to be cared for by Tony, Fida and Sarah in Palmdale, California, where she spent her last 5 and ½ years of life surrounded by the love of her family and friends.
She ascended into heaven to be with the Lord Jesus at 5:12 AM onThursday morning, April 11, 2013, at home, surrounded by all her 6 children, daughter in laws, grand daughter and a niece.
