Mee Yuk Li

September 25, 1931 — November 7, 2017

Mee Yuk Li, was born on September 25, 1931 in Hoy Ping, China. She was the oldest child of Kee Kong Chong and Leong Shee Chong. She lived through WW2 and married Li Nung at the age of seventeen.

In 1954, Mrs. Li immigrated with her family to Hong Kong where she worked in a plastic flower factory. In 1967, she immigrated to Los Angeles, CA with her 4 children to rejoin her parents, brother Peter Chong, and sister Mee Kam Mar. In America, she worked as a seamstress for 10 years before retiring due to severe degenerative arthritis.

In 1975, Mrs. Li accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior and was baptized at the First Chinese Baptist Church, Los Angeles, in 1976. She was diligent in praying, Bible studies, and serving others. She loved to make dumplings and Chinese tamales to bring joy to others. She also served God by home visitations, praying for and encouraging others.

Throughout her life, Mrs. Li was a humble and quiet spoken woman. She delighted in growing vegetables in her yard and cooking for family and friends was her expression of love and appreciation. She was also a diligent prayer warrior, often rising up at 5 in the morning to pray for family and those in need. Despite physical hardships from arthritis, she never succumbed to self-pity and bitterness. Instead, she maintained a positive outlook, trusting in Jesus to meet her needs.

On November 7, 2017, at the age 86, Mrs. Li passed away peacefully in Fountain Valley, CA. She is survived by her sister and brother and her three children, Chui Fung Li, Robert Lee, and Amy Lee. She is also survived by five grandchildren, Francis Li, Christopher Li, David Li, Jonathan Lee, and Rebecca Lee.
