March 26, 1958 — December 12, 2014

May Yeesim Ho, 56, born on March 26, 1958 in Hong Kong and passed away December 12, 2014. She resided in Los Angeles, California, at the time of her passing. Arrangements are under the direction of Forest Lawn Hollywood Hills, Los Angeles, California.
In Memory of May Ho - A True Sister
Ho Yee Sim was born March 26, 1958, in Kowloon, Hong Kong. She was beautiful and also a perfectionist.  My mother, Chun Yuen, owned a 5th Floor Place at 9 Nam Cheong Street in Hong Kong. My grandfather, who cleaned in a LA Catholic Church, bought the place for my mother, but after I was born and his wife came to LA, he wanted us to come for the American Dream. My sister finished grade school and had many friends there. In May 1972,  my 14 yr. old sister, my 41 yr. old mom, 21yr. old brother, my mother, and myself for the American Dream. My dad came a year later.

While at Nightingale Jr high, she needed heart surgery.  The surgery was hard on her. She attended Franklin High, but her condition caused her to miss time, and she did not go to her Prom, Homecoming, or even her Graduation  and grad night. She went on to graduate from Glendale College. She became an U.S. citizen, and changed her first name to "May" with "Yeesim" as her middle name.

She worked as a file clerk and a typist at an insurance company located in Alhambra/San Marino. When she found out she could take a quiet bus to get to work, she was glad. She also went to church. These were her happiest times. After several years, that company moved to Glendora. On a trial run, she got lost and didn't get back till past 10pm. So she went searching for a job, and she was hired as a typist by Allianz, a big insurance company. However, it was also far and required long bus rides through the bad areas of downtown. She would get up at 4am and wait at the bus stop before 6am in the dark to go to work. But she found her favorite doctor, Dr. Levy, and her hospital, Cedar Sinai. She switched to First Chinese Baptist Church, and she met her best friend, Karena Wong.

Those stressful bus rides would last 20years, causing her health to deteriorate badly. She had ovarian cancer, a pacemaker for her bladder, another heart surgery among a host of Medical Procedures. Her body finally got enough, and she went on disability about 10 years ago.  Two years ago, she had her third heart surgery that also replaced her Aorta. Last year, she was in a nursing home for a brief time. On Friday, 12/05, May was hospitalized and stayed in a negative pressure room until Tuesday, 12/09, when doctors released her to go home. Around 50 hours later, she went to sleep and go home to be with the Lord. The Pain and Suffering is now over.

May had one joy in her life. That was her church. Most of her friends are from church, and her outside activities were church related. And most importantly, she found Christ. In John 8:12, Jesus said  "I am the light of the world: she that followed me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life". So Ah Sim, I pray and hope that Christ will now guide you to God's place in Heaven. You were a True Sister. Farewell.
