Maurice Ray Crick

Maurice Ray "Maury" Crick, age 93, of La Palma, California, passed away on Saturday, January 8, 2022, at Quality Life Homes in Laguna Niguel, CA, after a lengthy illness. Maury was born to William Edwin and Fannie Charlotta (Abbott) Crick in Cuba, IL, on May 18, 1928, the youngest of their five children who all predecease him. Maury served in both the US Coast Guard and the US Navy, then later attended the University of Houston where he obtained his degree in Electronics Engineering. With his family, he moved to La Palma, California in 1965, and became involved with the new city's development. Maury spent his entire career with Hughes Aircraft Company until he retired in 1990, then became active in the clogging and square dancing communities where he devoted many hours sharing his love of these dances with students of all ages. Maury is survived by his wife of 68 years, Mavis Ann (Ault) Crick of Dana Point, CA; two daughters -- Laura (Tom) Franchina of Dana Point, CA and Julia (Donald) Engelhardt of Prospect, KY; four grandchildren -- Marisa (Stephen) Salicos, Heather (Adam) Luna, Alexander Engelhardt and Christopher Engelhardt; and four great-grandchildren – Nolan Salicos, Stella Salicos, Harper Luna and Phoebe Luna. A family graveside service will be held at 12:30pm on Tuesday, February 22, 2022, at Forest Lawn in Cypress, CA. In lieu of flowers, donations made to the charity of your choice in his memory would be lovingly appreciated by the family.
