Mattie Wylie

Mattie Wylie, 101, born on April 07, 1922, in Fort Smith, AR, United States, passed away September 11, 2023. At the time of her passing, she resided with her daughter, Gracie Burns, in Placentia, CA. Mattie lived in North Long Beach for 70 years, where she and her beloved husband, Irvin D. Wylie, raised two daughters, Gracie and Irvalene Moni.

A devoted mother, wife and grandmother, Mattie was also passionate about bowling and the camaraderie of her bowling mates. She bowled several times a week until a broken hip sidelined her at 97 years old.  

Mattie is survived by her daughters, Gracie and Irvalene, grandchildren James Burns, Michael Burns, Jeff Burns (Mitzi), Gwen Moni, Karyn Moni (Robert Diem), 13 great grandchildren, 5 great, great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Her husband Irvin and grandson Robin Burns (surviving wife, Michelle Cooper) preceded her in death.

Services for Mattie will be held Monday, October 2, at Forest Lawn Mortuary Chapel, Long Beach, CA, 1500 East San Antonio Drive, with viewing at 1 p.m., service at 2 p.m.
