Matilde Margarita Ramírez de Becerra, 84, was born on January 28, 1942, in Tijuana, Baja California, Mexico, and passed away on August 19, 2026.

A longtime resident of Thermal, California, Matilde lived a life rooted in faith, family, service, sacrifice, and hard work. She was a beloved wife to Salvador Becerra, with whom she shared 62 years of marriage, a devoted mother, and a lifelong Catholic whose faith was one of the core values that guided her life. Her trust in God, her devotion to prayer, and her deep love for her family shaped the way she cared for others and carried herself through every season of life.

Matilde’s life was marked by quiet strength and steady perseverance. She worked as a farm laborer, helping build a life for her family through sacrifice, determination, and resilience. She knew the meaning of hard work, and she gave of herself fully so that those she loved could have more opportunities, more comfort, and a stronger foundation.

She later served as an instructional aide for 28 years with the Coachella Valley Unified School District, where she supported generations of students with patience, care, and compassion. Her work in education reflected who she was: gentle, dependable, humble, and always willing to help. Countless students still fondly remember her, not only for the work she did, but for the way she made them feel: welcomed, cared for, encouraged, and seen.

Matilde also had an entrepreneurial spirit. Over the years, she sold jewelry, clothing, and other items, always finding ways to help provide for her family, connect with others, and bring beauty into everyday life. Through her careers and side hustles, she built lifelong friendships with many people who came to know her warmth, generosity, humor, and sincere interest in others.

She will be remembered for her grace, her faith, her caring spirit, and the way she showed love through food, prayer, worry, encouragement, and always being present. Her home was anchored by her strength. Her family was blessed by her devotion. She had a way of making those around her feel loved, protected, and sent forward with her blessing.

Matilde leaves behind her beloved husband, Salvador Becerra; her children, Salvador Jr., Matilde, Francisco, Encarnación, and Miguel Becerra; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren who will continue to carry her memory, her love, and her legacy forward.

Matilde was loved by all she encountered. Her legacy of kindness, humility, faith, service, and unconditional love will live on through her family, through the many students and friends whose lives she touched, and through the memories that will continue to bring comfort, gratitude, and peace.
