Mathilda Theodora Lohstroh (Schothorst), 81, of Anaheim and formerly of Indonesia and Holland, passed away peacefully Wednesday, April 10, 2019 in Orange County, California.

"Thilly", as she was affectionately known, was preceded in death by her husband, Otto F. Lohstroh, Sr. Those left to cherish her memory include her brother, Marinus and her children; Grace, George, Yvonne and Otto Jr.; grandchildren, Jessica, Amber, Rochelle, Nicholas, Taylor, and Ryan; great-grandchildren, Jaeden, Landon, Dominic, Alexander, Remi, Ivee and Julianna as well as numerous others.

As a child in Indonesia during World War II, Thilly and her family were held captive along with other Dutch civilians in a concentration camp when Indonesia fell to Japan in 1942. Thilly rarely spoke about her time being torn away from her family. Not only did Thilly survive the camp but she had the most amazing outlook on life and always radiated positivity and a strong lust for life. Eventually, Thilly met Otto in Holland, they married and had two children, Grace and George. They decided to come to the United States in 1960 to live the American Dream. They raised two more children, Yvonne and Otto Jr. in the city of Anaheim, where she lived the remainder of her life.

Thilly had a bright and caring personality and was known for her ability to sense when people needed her help. She was sweet and kindhearted and she touched many lives with her generosity and passion for life and her love of the Lord. She will be dearly missed by all she knew.
