Mary Scott

December 24, 1912 — November 18, 2013

Mrs. Mary Van Dyke Scott,
24 Dec 1912 18 Nov 2013
She lifted the spirits of everyone she met. She was a dear friend to so many over the years, always willing to help. An unbounded positive attitude was her trademark for living. What a lady.

Mary was born in Sioux City, Iowa. She attended Pomona College in Southern California. In 1937 she married Walter Scott and moved to So. Calif. In 1967 they retired to Palm Desert. She was a 25-year member of the Eisenhower Medical Center Auxiliary; a Pathfinder; a 30-year Ironwoodie; and supported the Living Desert since opening day. She is survived by daughters, Susan Marks of Dallas, and Roberta Scott of Phoenix, and by her son, Jim of Palm Desert.

At her request, internment will be private, beside her husband of 37 years at Desert Memorial Park. She was 100 years young. In lieu of flowers, we
would welcome a donation in her memory to lustgarten.org/stevenjohnvandyke, or the Lustgarten Foundation, 111 Stewart Avenue, Bethpage, NY 11714. This is for pancreatic research in honor of her dear nephew.

After Glow
I'd like the memory of me to be
A happy one.
I'd like to leave an after glow
Of smiles when life is done.

I'd like to leave an echo whispering
Softly down the ways,
Of happy times and laughing times
And bright and sunny days.

I'd like the tears of those who grieve
To dry before too long,
And cherish those very special memories
To which I belong
