Mary Ann Reis, 96, passed away on February 26, 2025, at her home in Overland Park, Kansas. Born on June 24, 1928, in Alton, Illinois, she was the daughter of Frank and Hilda (Lenhardt) Eccles. Mary Ann graduated from Alton High School in 1946 and later earned a degree in education from Blackburn College in 1950.

 In 1950, Mary Ann married her high school sweetheart, Bob Reis, with whom she shared 63 years of marriage. After college, she taught third grade in the Alton School District before retiring to raise her children. In 1959, the family moved to Anaheim, California, where Mary Ann worked as a paraprofessional in the Cypress School District for many years.

Mary Ann was passionate about music, singing in church choirs and community choral groups. She also played the piano and served as a church organist. After her husband's passing, Mary Ann and her family relocated to Overland Park, Kansas.

She is survived by her children: Rebecca Presley of Kingman, Arizona; Barbara (Marc) Schlosberg of Leawood, Kansas; and David Reis of Overland Park, Kansas. Mary Ann also leaves behind grandchildren Jason (Rebekah) Holt, Rachael (Andrew) Schlosberg, Sarah Schlosberg, and great-grandson Joshua Holt. She is also survived by her sisters-in-law Myrna Cina of Leawood, Kansas, and Pat Eccles of Godfrey, Illinois.

Mary Ann was preceded in death by her husband Bob Reis, sister Ruth Begnel, brothers Dick (Lelia) Eccles and Jack Eccles, and her parents-in-law, Walter and Katherine Reis.

The family would like to extend special appreciation to Kansas City Hospice and Synergy Homecare.

A service will be held on March 11, at 9:00 AM at Forest Lawn in Cypress, California.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to Kansas City Hospice House, 12000 Wornall Rd., Kansas City, MO 64145.
