Mary Margaret Eckinger Williams

December 11, 1921 — August 24, 2019

Mary Margaret Eckinger Williams, age 97, of Valencia, California, passed away on Saturday, August 24th. She was born to Walter and Hilda (Koontz) Eckinger, Sr., in East Canton on December 11, 1921. She graduated from Canton High School and studied at Mount Union College in Alliance, Ohio. She served as a stenographer for Stark County Board of Education and later as secretary to the president of Hoover Vacuum in Canton.

She married and moved to Columbus, Ohio where she gave birth to her two daughters. From there, the family moved to Fairfax, Virginia where she raised her family, taught Sunday school and volunteered with The Red Cross. The family then moved to Los Angeles, California, in 1973, where she joined the Motherhood Maternity company as the Director of New Store Construction.

She was an avid reader, many times searching for new novels having exhausted the local library shelves. Being so well-read, she enjoyed a ferocious game of scrabble to which she almost always came out the gracious victor.

She so enjoyed watching baseball and football; she was a lifelong Ohio State Buckeye and Washington Redskin fan as well as a die-hard spectator of the Dodgers. She was an accomplished gardener, having a green thumb like no other. Within her beautiful gardens many hummingbirds were always present.

Along with her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her sister Janice Eckinger, brother Walter Eckinger, Jr., brother Norman Eckinger, and great granddaughter Breanna Nicole Swearingen. She will be greatly missed by two daughters and son-in-law; Karen Janel Donorovich (Michael) of Cincinnati, Cynthia Lee Impens of Los Angeles, California. Three grandchildren who adored their grandma; Debbie Holt (Sam) Rebecca Skorich (Eric) and Joseph Donorovich (Ashley). Eight great grandchildren whose antics brought their great grandma much joy; Brian, Brent, Andrew, Ava, Benjamin, Gabriella, Jaxon and Cooper.
