Services will be held grave side on the Vail of Faith grounds at Forest Lawn on Tuesday, June 23 at 9:00 in the morning. Father Sev Kuupuo of Saint Denis Catholic Community church in Diamond Bar will speak and the family encourages friends to share thoughts and memories.
Mary Lou was a RN living in Arizona when she met her husband who worked for Sears. In the mid 60's their oldest son was born and shortly after the new family moved to San Diego where they were blessed with a second son. They moved to Diamond Bar in the early 70's and she began volunteering as a crossing guard and playground supervisor at the elementary school her sons attended. In the 80's she went back to school to obtain her license to teach and worked with special needs students. Mary Lou stayed joyfully involved with the school and staff, assisting at school events and wherever needed until late 2014. Her cooking was much sought after and she often volunteered to support birthdays, themed days or just-because-times when she knew a special occasion needed her extraordinary touch.
Mary Lou is remembered by generations of families and their children. Her oldest grandchildren attended the same elementary school as her sons. Mary Lou was a fixture in Diamond Bar and was known to many as the "Lakers Lady" because of her support of her favorite basketball team. She could be seen driving around Diamond Bar proudly wearing team colors and sporting flags and stickers that adorned her car.
Mary Lou is survived and remember by her two brothers, two sons, daughter-in-law, four grandchildren and their husbands, and three great-grandchildren along with hundreds of close friends and co-workers.
The family wishes to thank these countless friends that supported her and remained loyal across her long journey. A special thanks to Carlos, Isabel and family, Laura and Lisa and their families, Joan and her family and Erika for their dedicated support and extending their friendship to her immediate family over the last several months.
