Mary Raphael Lillyman

Mary Lillyman, age 92, left us peacefully on June 3, 2017. She was born in Cook County, Illinois. She left Chicago when she was 10 years old and moved to Glendale, California where she attended Reincarnation Elementary School and Holy Family High School. She went to work for Lockheed Aircraft in 1943. In 1944 Mary met a handsome young man home on leave from the Army. His name was Robert Lillyman and they were married February 10,1945 in Glendale, California. They had a daughter, Linda and a son, Michael.

Some years later, they moved to Santa Barbara, California where they lived for 35 years. While in Santa Barbara, Mary worked for Valle Verde Retirement Center and did their accounting for 7 years retiring in 1994.

Robert preceded her in death in 1992. Mary moved to Indio in 1994. She loved the desert and all it had to offer. She became active in The Senior Center where she volunteered her time over many years. She was also an active member of The Red Hat Society.

Mary was never one to let the grass grow under her feet. She received her first drivers license in 1993. She enjoyed knitting, reading, shopping, playing cards and visiting with her many friends.

Mary is survived by her daughter Linda ( Ric ), son Michael ( Debra ), four grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. She will be missed dearly by all.
