Mary June La Rose

July 13, 1932 — April 14, 2022

Mary June La Rose was born on July 13, 1932 in Chicago, Illinois. Her parents were Lucius and Luella Barnett, and Mary was the fourth of five children. Her siblings were Marilyn, Jack, Lili Lou and Anna, the youngest, whom have all passed away. When Mary was 7 years old, her mother, three sisters and brother moved from Chicago to her grandmother's home in Los Angeles, where she grew up. Mary attended Belmont High School. At a welcoming home party, she met a very handsome young man named Maurice who was home from the Navy. They became high school sweethearts, and Mary married the love of her life on December 1, 1950. They had three children: Susan was born in 1951, Perry was born in 1954 and Dorothy was born in 1957.

Mary was a devoted wife and mother and owned two beauty salons: the small Pink and the big Pink aka The Pink Pandora, known for its black velvet wallpaper with pink poodles and pink chairs and shampoo bowls. She later worked many years for General Electric Capital and was honored in 1984 for their "largest sale performance ever," receiving a bonus three times her annual salary along with a First Class all expenses paid trip to New York.

She loved her home with a beautiful private backyard nestled in Verdugo Woodlands, Glendale that has remained in the family 47 years later.

She was a very hard worker, always helped others and was kind, caring, thoughtful and much loved!

She especially loved sharing her See's candy and Baskin Robbins ice cream.

Mary passed away on Thursday, April 14, 2022 at the age of 89. She died peacefully in the comfort of her home at 1pm, surrounded by her family. She is survived by her daughters Susan and Dorothy and son-in-law Tom.
