Mary Rodriguez Havens

Mary Rodriguez Havens, 96, born on May 13, 1926, in Brawley, CA, passed away on November 19, 2022. She was the third child of twelve born to Juan and Manuela Rodriguez. She resided in Thousand Palms, CA at the time of her passing. Predeceased by her husband Harold Havens and daughter Irene Y. Corrales, sons David L. Corrales, Ralph E. Corrales. She is survived by daughters Janet S. Havens and Ramona J. Corrales, grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. Our mother grew up in Brawley, CA and as a teenager worked with her family in agriculture fields in the Central Valley of California. Mom will be remembered for her work ethic which she imparted to all of her children. It was always important to her to get to work on time and get the job done. She worked at various jobs from being a Policewoman in Brawley to retiring as an apartment manager. She loved to do arts and crafts and you could always find her with a crossword puzzle in her hand. Once at the age of 85 a doctor asked her how she stayed so healthy, and her reply was a daily dose of Vitamin C. The doctor could not believe it until mom explained her Vitamin C was 'Coors' this became a family joke. She was an avid reader and always kept up with politics once writing to the Indio newspaper complaining they were being stingy with the ink because she could not read the print. They assured her ink was fine; mom went to the optometrist where she found out it was not the ink in the print it was her eyes, she needed cataract surgery. After cataract surgery, mom never wore glasses again. Graveside Services will be held at Coachella Valley Cemetery on Monday December 12, 2022 at 10:30 am. Arrangements are under the direction of Forest Lawn, Indio, California.
