Mary Anne Gallagher, 77, of Glendale, California, passed away peacefully at home on February 11, 2026.
Born on October 6, 1946 to the late Charles Augustus Gallagher and Mary Elizabeth Gallagher (Gore) in Rockville Centre, New York, Mary Anne spent most of her childhood in Kansas City, Kansas before her family settled in La Canada, California when she was in 8th grade. Mary Anne graduated from Immaculate Heart High School where she lettered in basketball. She attended Santa Clara University and graduated with a degree in Math.
In 1973 Mary Anne moved into her home on Ruberta Avenue in Glendale, where she would live for the remainder of her life. This is where she would raise her four children and be surrounded by neighborhood families that would become lifelong friends. Mary Anne was beloved in the neighborhood and could often be found chatting during her long morning walks under the citrus and palm trees.
At 40, while raising her family, Mary Anne enrolled in a PhD program at the University of Southern California. She received her PhD in Marriage and Family Therapy in 2000 and helped hundreds of patients in her private practice. Mary Anne was a natural therapist and an easy confidant: smart, calm, and supportive. Even after she retired she volunteered to provide services to those who could not afford it.
Mary Anne loved to travel. From road trips to National Parks, to European vacations with her children, to the many places she traveled to support her grandchildren’s band performances, science fairs, and sports. She also loved holidays and Christmas was always a special time, with dozens of people in and out, tons of food, special china, and the most beautiful Christmas tree you’ve ever seen.
Mary Anne is survived by her sister Patricia Gallagher, her children and their spouses: Andrea Giometti and Clayton White, Megan Giometti, Sarah Giometti-Hutchins and Tom Hutchins, Joseph Giometti and Lauren Geissler Giometti, her five grandchildren, Emma Alvarado, Ryan Giometti, Collin Giometti, John Giometti, and Georgia Giometti, as well as her nieces Alexis Gallagher, Katie Ellement, and Carson Gallagher and nephew Shaun Norman.
Mary Anne will be greatly missed but always remembered for her quick wit, deep inner strength, devotion to her family, and her sparkling, freckled green eyes.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 28, at 12:00 pm at the Old North Church at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Hollywood Hills, California. A celebration of life will follow at the Gallagher home in Glendale from 2:00 pm - 5:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family invites donations to be made to Planned Parenthood Los Angeles.
