Mary Lue Enfinger

Mary Lue Enfinger, 87, born on December 8, 1924, in Stockton, Georgia, passed away May 15, 2012, in Stanton, California. Arrangements are under the direction of Forest Lawn, Cypress, California.

Mary grew up during the Great Depression, one of four daughters of William and Bessie Lee Rose. Her mother passed away when Mary was only 9 years old, leaving her older sisters and father to take care of the family. At age 15 she went out on her own; she moved to Jacksonville, Florida to live with her Aunt & Uncle, where she worked in a cigar factory. There she met her husband to be and at age 19 was married to Grover General Enfinger, a handsome sailor in the Navy. Mary and Grover were married for over 50 years, until he passed away in 2000. Together they lived through three wars, and raised 9 children; 8 natural and one daughter they adopted late in life. They lived in many places throughout the U.S. while Grover was in the Navy, including Florida, Virginia, Texas, Rhode Island, and San Diego, California. They finally settled in Long Beach, California after Grover retired.

Mary loved to laugh, cook, and take care of her home and family. She was preceded in death by her husband, Grover, and their son Ray Enfinger and daughter Joy Beth Titus. She is survived by daughters Gloria Nicholson, Brenda Taravella, Fern Holland, and Lorie Fleming, and sons Jerry Enfinger, Alan Enfinger, and Steven Enfinger, along with a multitude of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
