Mary’s Biography

May 13, 1944 - Mar 15, 2026

Mary Chung was born in Singapore on May 13, 1944.  She was the 5th of 6 Children! At tender age of 8, her Father died of a Heart Attack leaving her Mother a young widow devastated at age 36! They went from being Wealthy to totally dependent on Relatives Overnight!!!

Life was a struggle, but Mary persevered! She attended Geylang Methodist Girls’ School both English in the Morning; and Chinese School in the Afternoon - She was always “Tops” in her Class of 50!!  This formed a great impact in her life with work ethics and grounded her Strong Christian Faith!

After graduating High School, she pursued her Career in Nursing at the Singapore General Hospital and later moved to London. She received her Degree at the University of London, majoring in Nursing, Midwifery, as well as Kidney and Renal Care! She was involved in extensive Missionary work in London, Scotland and Ireland and received her Degree in London Bible College as well!

She was at a Crossroads of either furthering her Career in Medicine or answering GOD’s Calling to go into the Mission Field?

She received her Masters Degree in Intercultural Studies as well as a Doctorate in Missiology at Fuller Theological Seminary and was actively involved in the Mission Field with Frontier Mission as well as [the] Chinese Christian Mission. She was always taking Teams on Extensive Mission Trips to the Middle East, Cairo Egypt, Iran, Israel, Russia, Tibet, Mongolia, Thailand, Cambodia, Malaysia, New Zealand, Japan, Korea, HongKong and China!  

She joined First Evangelical Church Glendale in the early 1970’s and became Youth Director and later as FECA Director of Missions! She was also very actively involved in Underground Missionary work, especially in Mainland China!

She majored and specialized in Lecturing at the Alliance Bible Seminary in Cheung Chau Hong Kong, equipping Leaders for Overseas Missionary work and often went into China actively involved in the Underground Missionary work!

Mary finally decided to retire after much persuasion, to spend some precious time with her Aging Mom who went home to be with the LORD at age 108 in 2020.

In spite of her Retirement, Alliance Bible Seminary would call on her to teach at least once every year to Equip Leaders!!!  They named her “The MOTHER Of MISSIONS”!!!

Mary continued to Counsel students via Emails and was very active in “Studying Updates of Bible Prophecy and End Time Events”! She was very informed about the Political Arena and Very much concerned that our Christian Community is oblivious to what is really happening around us here in America and Praying that All Churches and Christians must be well-informed and Exercise their Rights to Vote Every Election, otherwise we can easily become “Indoctrinated” and lose our Country; just like what happened in CHINA!

She is Fondly and Lovingly Remembered by her Surviving Siblings: 2nd Brother Richard Chung and his Family & Youngest Sister Stella Song and Her Family Tongel, Julie, Joshua and Brandon Song (who loved and treated MARY as their adopted 2nd Mum and Grandma) We Celebrated FAMILY Day every FRIDAY and MARY Enjoyed the Sweet Special Times together!! She is also survived by our Sister’s Children, Paul and Elaine!

Thank You FATHER, She Is now resting in Eternal Peace in the Heavenly Realm with our LORD and SAVIOR JESUS CHRIST!!!🙏🏻✝️🙏🏻😇🙏🏻♥️🙏🏻
