Mark Brom

Apr 25, 1950 — Jun 26, 2026

Mark Anthony Brom was born April 25, 1950, to Edward Brom and Hilda Grace Seipp Brom in Decorah, IA. He was the youngest of six children. Tony died June 26, 2026, at Eisenhower Medical Center in Rancho Mirage, CA.

Tony and his future husband Darrel started their life journey together in 1979 and were legally married September 25, 2013, in Cathedral City, CA.

Tony's professional career started in the field of Respiratory Therapy. He then pursued a degree in pharmacy and completed his schooling at the University of Minnesota in 1979. He worked for Snyder Drug in Minneapolis/St. Paul, becoming Director of Operations. He joined the staff at ExpressScripts which allowed him to work remotely after he and Darrel relocated to Southern California in 2001.

Tony successfully completed the California Pharmacy Licensure and went to work for Walgreens focusing on HIV and transgender medicine. He retired but was later inspired to return to the work he loved working at Borrego Health once again focusing on HIV and transgender medicine. He fully retired in 2023.

Throughout his life, Tony's creative genius was expressed in many ways. He enjoyed oil painting, torn artwork, China painting, landscaping, home improvements and decorating, and building and maintaining a 125 gallon aquarium (which allowed him to use his expertise in chemistry).

Tony's greatest pleasure was travelling and his favorite mode was cruising with his husband which they did throughout their 45 years together. Tony celebrated his 75th birthday on a 30 day cruise to Fiji Island last year.

Tony is survived by his husband, Darrel Differding, his sister Diane Brom Kruchek, brothers-in law Larry (Sandi Lewis) Differding and Wayne (Deb) Differding and sisters-in-law Julie Storhoff and Shelly Differding, and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and great great nieces.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Hilda Brom, his brothers Warren and David, his sisters Janice Brom and Patrice Brom (Edgar) Trice, his father and mother-in-law Francis and Helen Differding, sister and brother-in-law Darcy and Ed Gough, and brother-in-law Jeffrey Differding.

Tony will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who were lucky enough to be a part of his life.
