Marjorie Bakker Klages went to her Heavenly home on July 29, 2022. Marjorie was born on April 23, 1928 to John and Florence Bakker in Muskegon, Michigan. She attended Hile School and went on to graduate from Muskegon Heights High School in 1946. From there she attended Central Bible College in Springfield, Missouri. Marge had a zest for life and wanted to pursue further education. She made her way to Pasadena, California where she enrolled in Pasadena College and graduated with a teaching credential and Master's degree. Marge was hired by the Pasadena Unified School District and successfully taught there for 45 years, retiring at the age of 78. She always knew that she was making a positive difference in the lives of her elementary students, and many came back to see her over the years and share their grown-up success stories with her.
Marge married Henry E. Klages on July 31, 1959. They had two children: John C. Klages and Karen Klages, a teacher at John Muir High School. Marge's son died August 10, 1989 and her husband died in 1990. She is survived by her daughter Karen Klages, sister Beverly Halgren of Muskegon, Michigan, brother George Bakker and wife Roberta of Terre Haute, Indiana, and several nieces and nephews: Cheryl and Gary Maners of Terre Haute, Samantha Maners and Andrew Maners of Los Angeles, and Chris and Brandy Bakker, Cassie Bakker and Ella Bakker of Beavercreek, Ohio.
Marge was a longtime member of Lake Avenue Church of Pasadena. She lived a long, wonderful life and was truly a woman of God. She loved her family and was a good friend. All are welcome to attend her memorial service at 10:00am on August 10, 2022 at Lake Avenue Church, 393 N. Lake Avenue in Pasadena, California.
