Marilyn R. (hanley) Paradis

Atkinson, NH: Marilyn R. (Hanley) Paradis, 81, a resident of Atkinson since 1963, died on November 6, 2014 at Wingate Nursing Home, Haverhill, MA.

Born in Manchester, NH, and raised and educated in Haverhill, MA, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Lillian (Hersey) Hanley. She graduated from Haverhill High School with the Class of 1951 and went on to attend the former Lowell State Teacher's College, which is now part of UMass Lowell.

Mrs. Paradis was a teacher for Haverhill Hannah Duston School for eighteen years and was later employed as a Librarian Assistant at Atkinson Academy for eighteen years, from where she retired.

A member of Holy Angels Church of St. Luke the Evangelist Parish, she was also a member of the New Hampshire Teachers Association. An accomplished pianist, Mrs. Paradis enjoyed entertaining locally, playing piano duets as part of the Hanley and David Duet Team. She also enjoyed line dancing, candlepin bowling, swimming, and being a swim instructor for handicap children. Mrs. Paradis was a Breast Cancer Survivor for over thirty-three years.

She was predeceased by her husband, Albert B. Paradis, Jr. and her son, David Paradis, and is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Susan E. and Rene J. Laferriere of Goffstown, NH and her beloved Jake the Cat.

Relative and friends are invited to attend Mrs. Paradis's Life Celebration on Wednesday, November 12, 2014 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home, 116 Main Street, Route 121A, Plaistow, NH. Her funeral will begin at 9 a.m. on Thursday, November 13, 2014 from the funeral home with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at Holy Angels Church of St. Luke the Evangelist Parish, 8 Atkinson Depot Road, Plaistow, NH. Burial will follow in Holy Angels Cemetery, East Road, Plaistow.
