Formerly of Roseland NJ, Marilyn Amelia Moseley (Williams) a longtime member of the Hampstead community passed away peacefully on November 21st. She was 80 years old.
She was born in Glen Ridge, NJ on September 16, 1936 to the late Duraunde Williams and his wife Edna (Artho). Her father Duraunde was a prominent member of the Roseland, NJ community being the owner (along with his brother) of Williams' Market, now Fairchild's Market.
After graduating from high school, Marilyn attended the Katherine Gibbs School and learned to type. Always one to excel at whatever she pursued, Marilyn learned to type faster than any human being ever has and ever will. Her prodigious typing abilities helped land her a much coveted job at the illustrious Bell Labs in Whippany, NJ. It was at the company's annual canoe trip that she met her husband, the late Richard Hurst Moseley, a young physicist. The two married in 1958. Their first son, Richard Duraunde was born in 1961, their second son Robert David was born in 1963. Marilyn left her job to raise her boys. Later, she and her family moved to Hampstead, New Hampshire.
Marilyn was an avid outdoors woman and a "beagling" enthusiast. Beagling refers to a hunting style and dog sport in which hunters utilize trained beagles to track rabbits. Throughout much of her adult life, she kept beagles. She was a member of the New Jersey Beagle Club and later the Merrimack Valley Beagle Club in Newbury, Massachusetts. Even in her old age she attended field trials for various beagle clubs, sometimes traveling for days in the car.
Marilyn's survivors include her son Richard Duraunde Moseley and his domestic partner, Amanda Mason of Philadelphia PA, her son Robert David Moseley of Hampstead, NH and her brother, Edwin Williams and his domestic partner Betsy Ley of Mt. Kisco NY. Marilyn was an adoring grandmother to 7 grandchildren ranging in age from 11 months to 18 years of age.
Marilyn's husband, Richard Hearst Moseley, passed away in 2001. Her brother Robert "Buddy" Williams passed away in 2009. Marilyn will be laid to rest at Prospect Hill Cemetery in Caldwell, NJ beside her parents.
