Marilyn Louise Evans

Marilyn L. Evans, 70, of Long Beach, passed away at her home on December 12th.

A memorial service will be held 5:00 pm Saturday, January 4th at Forest Lawn Cathedral Chapel, 4725 Cherry Avenue, Long Beach, California.

Marilyn was born in San Diego to Charles and Lois Wood on January 25th, 1949. She went to La Jolla High School and later attended and graduated from Cal Poly Pomona in 1971. There she met her future husband Michael J. Evans, whom she married on June 19th, 1971 in La Jolla.

Marilyn and Michael went on to share their passion for travel, sailing their boat up and down the West Coast before settling in Long Beach to raise their family. They were active members of the Westward Cruising Club, along with their children, for many years. She loved gardening and reading murder mysteries.

Professionally, Marilyn enjoyed a long career in the oil and gas industry, working as a Sales Engineer for Komax Systems for over thirty years.

Marilyn is preceded in death by her husband Michael and her sister Helen.

Marilyn is survived by her son, David M. Evans; her daughter, Dr. Allison D. Evans and her husband Ian; her brothers Charles F. Wood III and Clifford Wood; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

The family of wishes to extend their sincere thanks to Sanctuary Hospice.

Arrangements are under the direction of Forest Lawn, Long Beach, California.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Long Beach Public Library Foundation in memory of Marilyn L. Evans, who was an avid reader and a supporter of adult literacy.
