Marie Susan Melli, long time resident of Paramus, New Jersey, with recent relocation to Glendale, California, passed away on November 24, 2021.

Marie was born September 16, 1930 in Weehawken, NJ. She attended school in Union City and graduated from Emerson High School. She was an avid musician, playing violin and piano and also was a member of her high school band serving as a majorette.

She was united in holy matrimony to Richard Melli on November 23, 1952 at Saint Anthony Padua Church in Union City. This union was later blessed with two children and one grandchild.

Marie was a devoted wife and mother and loved family vacations and outings. She returned to the workforce in 1968, entering into the banking industry, where she later became Bank Vice President and also served as President of the Hudson County Branch of the American Banking Institute. During this time, she also furthered her education by pursuing an Associate Business Degree from St Peter's College.

Marie was dedicated to serving her community in many ways. She was a member of the Social Concerns Committee at the Church of the Annunciation in Paramus. She served as a librarian at a local Paramus branch, where she loved engaging with the young student population. She also volunteered as an English as a Second Language Teacher for many years.

Marie was noted for her vibrant personality. All who had the pleasure of knowing her always loved spending time with her, enjoying her wit and contagious laughter.

She is survived by her husband, Richard; her two children Donna Melli-DeMaria and Stephen Melli; her grandson Derrick DeMaria; her son-in-law Frank DeMaria; and Stephen's partner, Kirby Johnson.

A visitation will be held on Sunday December 19th at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, 1712 South Glendale Ave, Glendale, Ca. from 2-4 PM. A funeral service is scheduled for 9 AM on Dec 20 at Forest Lawn, Glendale - Little Church of the Flowers. Pastor Aaron Van Voorhis will officiate. Burial will be a private service at the Riverside National Cemetery, Riverside, Ca.
